Introduction
Industrial design protection concerns the ornamental or visual appearance of a product, including its shape, pattern, configuration or decoration. Registration can help prevent unauthorised copying of protected appearance.
Registrable subject matter
Examples can include product shapes and appearance, wallpaper patterns and other eligible visual designs, subject to applicable law.
Requirements and information
- Applicant’s full name, nationality and business address
- Six copies of design representations
- Power of Attorney signed by an authorised signatory and notarised
- Certified priority documents, where applicable, filed with the application or within the applicable period

Duration, renewal and timing
Initially ten years from registration, with a five-year extension through renewal, according to the supplied firm content.
